Lawsuit against Mr Pappaianni reveals allergy to journalism. The comment
“This is a case in point that shows how in Italy complaints are considered a substitute for denials or letters of correction” says the editor of Ossigeno
The director of Ossigeno per l’Informazione says that “these are considered the only possible responses to the work of the journalist, and in recent weeks we have seen several cases from Sicily to the Veneto, all events that show the allergy towards those who do investigative journalism. According to data from the Observatory between 2011 and 2013, in 886 cases of intimidation, 240 have been spurious and baseless lawsuits and damage claim, since these have either been dropped, or the reporter has been acquitted”.
This is the comment to the complaint of Don Antonio Polese, “the boss of ceremonies”, against the journalist Mr Claudio Pappaianni for an article in which he was called into question by an investigative hypothesis on alleged ties to the leader of the Nuova Camorra Organizzata, Raffaele Cututo.
