Spontaneous correction. The judge sends lawsuit against “Giornale del Cilento” to the archives
The news outlet had corrected a wrong news and apologized publicly, however the mayor of Marina di Camerota had filed a complaint for defamation
The judge for the preliminary investigations of the Court of VallodellaLucania decided “not to prosecute” the journalist Luigi Martino of the Giornale del Cilento, who had written by mistake that the mayor of Marina di Camerota (in the province of Salerno), Antonio Romano, had been indicted for libel. In fact, there was only a request by the public prosecutor to that effect. As soon as he realized the error, the newspaper had spontaneously corrected the news and made a public apology. But the mayor had presented a libel suit nonetheless.
