Defamation. Ezio Mauro to trial accused by former mayor of Pignataro (Caserta province)
Giorgio Magliocca, arrested and later acquitted, was accused of collusion. The newspaper described him as “an uncomfortable friend” of Alemanno
Ezio Mauro, editor-in-chief of the daily La Repubblica, was indicted for libel for an article, published by his newspaper in August of 2012, in which Giorgio Magliocca, the then mayor of Pignataro Maggiore (Caserta), was described as one of the “uncomfortable friends” of Gianni Alemanno, at that time running for office in the local elections in the Capital. The first hearing, as reported by the local site ComunediPignataro.it, is scheduled for May 26, 2016 at the Court of Rome.
