Unpresentables in Pignataro. Palmesano sued. Public prosecutor calls for filing
Also De Stavola has been sued for an article on the denied candidacy of former mayor Magliocca, since he stands accused of being part of the Camorra and of holding contacts with local bosses
The Prosecutor’s Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere (prosecutor Dr. Marta Correggia) has requested the dismissal of the lawsuit for libel filed by Giorgio Magliocca, former Mayor of Pignataro Maggiore (in the province of Caserta), against the journalists Enzo Palmesano and Davide De Stavola, the authors of an article in which claimed that the former mayor was not re-nominated by the PDL because he was deemed to be an unpresentable. De Stavola is the editor of the blog of investigative journalism Pignataro Maggiore News, and editor of the information website www.caleno24ore.it.
“There are – says the prosecutor – no acceptable elements to support the charge in court against the suspects. The article subject of the lawsuit is a legitimate exercise of the right to political criticism relative to political-judicial episodes involving the plaintiff.” Giorgio Magliocca, assisted by the lawyer Mauro Iodice, opposed the request for dismissal. The investigating judge, Dr. Giovanni Caparco, set for November 27th, 2015 the council session in order to decide.
