Defamation. De Stavola acquitted after being sued by entrepreneur Pignataro
The crime does not exist, according to the Monocratic Judge of the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere. For Salvatore Minieri, withdraw the lawsuit but charge expenses
The monocratic judge of the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, Pasquale d’Angelo, at the hearing on June 10th, 2015 acquitted the journalist Davide De Stavola from the imputation of libel “because the crime does not exist”. The criminal case had originated from a lawsuit filed with the police of Pignataro Maggiore by Giulio Parisi (former builder) on January 13th, 2011 against the journalists Davide De Stavola, then responsible editor, and Salvatore Minieri, then publisher and editor of the online newspaper www.pignataronuova.it, which has since ceased publication. The proceedings against Minieri ended following the withdrawal of the lawsuit and the payment of the legal costs borne by the journalist.
The complaint by Giulio Parisi (who had claimed damages in the trial, assisted by the lawyer Mauro Iodice) is one of the episodes of the offensive supporters of former Mayor of Pignataro Maggiore, Giorgio Magliocca, waged against journalists who criticized him.
