Naples. Unlawful school bus seized after attack to Luca Abete
The envoy of the TV show Striscia la Notizia had been beaten up while recording a service on security conditions of school transport. Abete: “I’m not afraid”
On 22 October 2015, the Municipal Police of Naples seized 9 school buses during a control in the areas of the Aminei Hills, of Via Saverio Gatto and Pianura. The police intervened following the TV report on the unchecked safety requirements of some Neapolitan school buses made by Luca Abete, envoy for Striscia La Notizia, aired on 19 and 21 October 2015. During the inquiry, the envoy of the satirical news broadcast on Canale 5 was insulted and attacked at the gate of a school in the center of Naples by a group of drivers: a driver slapped him in front of everyone after pushing aside one of the two operators.
“It took two television services, a bit ‘of a fight and the protests of many outraged Neapolitans, to kick off the controls!” Abete said on his official Facebook page, expressing gratitude and satisfaction for the operation performed by the city police. Among the buses seized, two were abusive, four were carrying twice as many children as consented for the vehicle and in three of them were mounted benches to increase the number of seats. Other violations also concerned the qualifications of drivers, necessary for the transport of persons and the use of seat belts.
