Trapani. Former Bishop investigated for libel and defamation
Francesco Miccichè had accused a priest and the journalists Gianfranco Criscenti and Giuseppe Pipitone of having hatched a plot against him
The prosecutor in Trapani investigates on the former Bishop Francesco Miccichè for aggravated and continued defamation against Monsignor Antonino Treppiedi. This was reported by the ANSA news agency. The prelate had been removed by the Pope in 2012.
Monsignor Treppiedi had been denounced by the bishop in 2011, along with the journalists and Gianfranco Criscenti and Giuseppe Pipitone, on charges of plotting against him. The reference is to a journalistic investigation published in October 2010 on the fortnightly L’Isola, in which anomalies in the accounts of the Diocese of Trapani and of the Auxilium Foundation were highlighted, both administered by Teodoro Canepa, son-in-law of Miccichè.
