Alarm from order of journalists: too many threats
On May 19, the National Council has asked the institutions to monitor and punish those responsible. Cited the latest cases in Calabria and Campania
The Order of Journalists expressed “indignation and strong concern” over the increasing threats and that occur at the expense of information professionals.
The National Council which met in Rome on 17, 18 and 19 May 2016, also “urged the institutions to a greater vigilance and a detailed defense of the territory so as to shed light on these episodes and bring to justice all those that, using mafia methods with the aim of creating a climate of terror, try to undermine the constitutional freedoms and the irrepressible right to inform”.
In the note, the Order makes specific reference to the recent incidents of intimidation against journalists that have occurred in Campania and Calabria.
