Ecpmf. Shine a light on violations of media freedom in Hungary
In September 2015 reporters have been beaten and arrested. Ossigeno has delivered a letter to the Hungarian Embassy in Italy. Similar initiatives throughout Europe
Through Ossigeno per l’Informazione, Italy also took part on April 14, 2016, to the international initiative launched by the European Centre for Freedom of the Press in Leipzig – partner of the Observatory within the European project – to ask the Hungarian government to take position on the aggression and arrest in September 2015 of a number of journalists from around the world by the security forces of the State as they pursued to document the conditions of refugees on the Serbian-Hungarian border. In the morning of Thursday, April 14 collaborators of the associations involved in the European project, captained by Center for Press and Media Freedom, presented to the Hungarian Embassies in the different countries a letter signed by the directors of the Centers asking the Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, to shed light and take a stand on the violation of media freedom that took place last September. All the photos of the delivery of the letters – in Italy Ossigeno was responsible – have been published and shared on the social profiles of the ECPMF and of those of its partners.
