Cosenza: prosecutor calls for 4 years jail for Calabria Ora publisher
Pietro Citrigno is accused of domestic violence against the suicidal journalist Alessandro Bozzo. Prosecutor denies extortion against 5 other reporters
On 11 July 2016, in Cosenza, the representative of the public prosecution requested a sentence to four years’ imprisonment for the publisher of the daily Calabria Ora, Pietro Citrigno, charged with the criminal offense of domestic violence against the journalist Alessandro Bozzo, editor of the same newspaper – and which has ceased publication – who committed suicide in March 2013.
Furthermore, on top of what it emerged during the trial, the public prosecutor, Maria Francesca Cerchiara, has requested the forwarding of the minutes of the hearing at the public prosecutor’s office, in order to challenge the publisher Citrigno of the offense of attempted extortion against five other journalists who worked in the newsroom of the same newspaper.
