Defamation. Caselli withdraws lawsuit against Sgarbi and Sallusti
The indictment for libel of the journalist Alessandro Sallusti, editor of Il Giornale, and of columnist Vittorio Sgarbi, author of an article published on December 6, 2012, was almost certain. In Sassari, the deputy prosecutor Giovanni Porcheddu had questioned them and asked the Judge to send both to trial. But the former prosecutor of Turin, Gian Carlo Caselli withdrew the lawsuit against them. Consequently the Court decided no to follow with the prosecution. Caselli challenged the definition of “ideological and biased magistrate” and the criticism to his activities as prosecutor in Palermo.
