Call on the Osce to appoint soon a new Media’s Representative
Dunja Mijatovic will leave next March 10, after serving a one year extension of her two three-year terms. And yet no announcement of her successor
Brussels, 16 Feb 2017 – The International and European Federations of Journalists, together with a wide coalition of freedom of expression organisations, sent today a letter to 47 OSCE Participating states, urging them to press on the OSCE to select and appoint without delay the new Representative, and by doing so, ensure the best profile possible with a track record of independence and proved commitment to freedom of expression and freedom of the press. The letter is signed by Association of European Journalists (AEJ), Article 19, Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), European Federation of Journalists (EFJ), International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), Index On Censorship, International Press Institute (IPI), Reporters Sans Frontières (RSF).
