Rome. Banner with sexist insults against reporter of Il Messaggero

Found in Rome at the plant that prints the newspaper. The journalist deals with news related to the world of hooliganism

On 22 February 2018 an anonymous, threatening and offensive banner (“slut” and “police spy”, it said) was posted in Rome, in the Torre Maura area, where the typographical plant of Il Messaggero is located. The journalist Alessia Marani, who follows news in the city of Rome, follows the events related to public order and ordinances to avoid violence in the stadiums. The photo of the banner has immediately circulated on social media. Upon arrival of the police, the banner had already been removed. The banner is currently in the possession of the DIGOS unit and investigators are examining the environments of organized hooliganism.

“I thank Il Messaggero, the National Press Federation, the National Council of the Order of Journalists and the Roman Press association for their support. The fact of having received solidarity from the whole category makes me feel stronger and less lonely”, the journalist told Ossigeno.

PRECEDENTS IN LAZIO – From 2011 to today, in Lazio, Ossigeno has detected 720 serious violations of the freedom of the press and expression committed with acts of violence, illicit acts or abuses against as many journalists, bloggers, video operators, photo reporters, publishers, whose names are published in the Observatory Table.
